Founded in 1980 and now with over 180 members, the Society covers Ventnor and the
Undercliff, from Luccombe in the East to Chale in the west, including the inland villages of
Whitwell, Wroxall and Godshill.
The Society is based in the Ventnor Heritage Centre and holds popular monthly meetings and
talks, with guest speakers covering a wide range of local history subjects. We welcome new
members, so please contact us at membership@ventnorheritage.org.uk if are interested in the
local history of our area, and would like to get involved.
Our collection contains photographs, prints, documents and artefacts, and our collection
catalogue is available to search in the Heritage Centre, and we can undertake research
enquiries. Our local history publications, many of them written by Society members, are
available for sale in our Museum and in our online shop, and our weekly local history articles
are published on our website and in the local newspaper.
